Many cooks choose to master a few simple dishes and serve them time-and-again to their tolerant families,
rather than experiment with new ideas or tastes that may turn out to be a disaster.

Many preachers are the same. They choose to stay in the parts of the Bible they know well, expounding on the same familiar themes, rather than venturing into other parts of God's Word that look much too difficult. Many of us choose to prioritise the New Testament over the Old, the logic of the epistles over the imagery of the prophets, and the familiar stories in Mark or Luke rather than the strange laws, boring genealogies and perplexing stories of Numbers or Chronicles.

But what this means is that God's people miss out on hearing from great swathes of God's Word. And as a result, they can end up becoming malnourished in the process.

This Nutritious seminar is designed to help teaching teams jump into every part of God's Word. It walks preachers through the different genres used in the Scriptures, particularly narratives, poetry, wisdom, prophetic literature and the epistles. Participants will learn how to read and interpret each type of literature, find the key theological idea being communicated, and how to communicate that message in a way that is sensitive to the type of literature that is being taught.

Please note that I strongly suggest that teams take my Preach seminar as an introductory course together, before signing up for the Nutritious seminar.

"It's been said that 'preaching is a bit like giving birth on Sunday and then waking up pregnant again Monday.'
It can be draining to keep having to put out sermons and often having very little input into our own lives.
This is where I would recommend a seminar like 'Nutritious' that Brad is offering.
In the same way that our bodies need to have healthy nutrition, our spiritual life also needs input.
A course like this helps preachers to study the Word and to be reminded again
of the different genres such as narrative and poetry and wisdom.
I highly recommend the 'Nutritious' course as an essential top up in your Ministry."
